FAQs about Vitamin D3 Supplements

Vitamin D plays several key roles in human health including regulation of hormonal functions, modulation of neuromuscular and immune functions, reduction of inflammation, and proper gene encoding.
Vitamin D deficiency is associated with dull, achy, musculoskeletal pain that is completely unresponsive to both pharmacologic and manual therapies. The pain may be widespread or confined to a particular area, most commonly the lower back and lumbar spine. The process by which this occurs has been clearly defined:
  1. Vitamin D deficiency causes a reduction in calcium absorption.
  2. Production of parathyroid (PTH) hormone is increased to maintain blood calcium levels.
  3. Increase in PTH results in increased urinary excretion of phosphorus, which leads to hypophosphatemia.
  4. Insufficient calcium phosphate results in deposition of un-mineralized collage matrix on the inside and outside surface of bones.
  5. When the collagen matrix hydrates and swells, it causes pressure on the sensory-innervated periosteum resulting in pain. Several clinical investigations have shown vitamin D deficiency is particularly common among people with musculoskeletal pain.
[Vitamin D3 Restore supplies 2000 IU of vitamin D3 per drop]
For people who are not getting enough vitamin D3 from food, many medical professionals suggest that a vitamin D3 supplement regimen be undertaken. A conservative regimen of Vitamin D3 Restore supplies the necessary vitamin D (as emulsified D3) without the increased risk of hypercalcemia, commonly associated with single, large dose therapies – especially important in an outpatient setting.* One (1) drop daily of Vitamin D3 Restore (2000 IU) increased 25(OH)D concentrations in vitamin D deficient children 202% in six (6) weeks, effectively tripling 25(OH)D levels.* We designed Vitamin D3 Restore to be easily administered and absorbed! Simply dispense one (1) drop from the bottle directly onto the tongue or finger which is then placed on the tongue each day.*
There isn’t a difference between vitamin D and vitamin D3; they are one and the same. Vitamin D is composed of both vitamin D2 and vitamin D3.
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that helps with promoting the absorption of calcium, immune function, and bone growth.
You can get vitamin D3 naturally through sunlight. Vitamin D3 nutrients can also be achieved through animal-sourced foods such as egg yolk, butter, oily fish, fish oil, and supplements.
Yes, you should take vitamin D3 if you are not getting enough sunlight throughout the day or week or do not eat many vitamin D3 rich foods. Consult with your health care professional before taking vitamin D3.

D3

Don't know how effective it is, as I still have osteopenia, but it is no worse. Perhaps the D3 is helping maintain. Husband is post extensive back surgery; he takes D3 daily, and has little to no back issues now.
